LCAnet – Life Cycle Assessment Ontology Network

Version 2.2.0 CC BY 4.0 w3id.org/lcanet CEA List · Université Paris Saclay

Architecture Overview

LCAnet is a modular ontology network for Life Cycle Assessment providing a unified semantic framework for interoperable knowledge modelling across the full LCA workflow. It follows a modular architecture where each module captures a specific aspect of Life Cycle Assessment. The Core module integrates all components and ensures semantic consistency across the network.

LCAnet Modules

The ontology is structured into the following interconnected modules, each independently explorable or usable in combination through the Core.

Core Module
Integrates all modules into a unified semantic framework.

Competency Questions

A set of competency questions (CQs) demonstrates the convenience of the LCAnet ontology across various scenarios.

Use Cases

In the context of the SmartACV (CEA) Project, two use cases were explored: batteries and integrated circuits. The resources below demonstrate the practical applicability of LCAnet.

Integrated Circuits Use case

IC Conceptualisation

Conceptualisation graph of the IC use case.

IC LCA Data

LCA results per flow/activity in the IC use case.

IC Knowledge Graph

Integrated circuits use case knowledge graph built with LCAnet.

IC Inferred Triplets

Inferred triplets extracted via HermiT reasoner over the IC knowledge graph.
